Former Vice President and presidential flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for 2023 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has admonished members of Lagos chapter of the party to ensure they unite ahead of next year’s gubernatorial and presidential elections.

Former Vice President and presidential flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for 2023 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has admonished members of Lagos chapter of the party to ensure they unite ahead of next year’s gubernatorial and presidential elections.

Atiku, who was represented by one of his aides, Adai Edwin, during an empowerment programme for 500 youths sponsored by Tommy Ogungbe, a senatorial aspirant for Lagos West, under his foundation, Imole Eko Foundation Empowerment, said the idea of adding value to youths was good and commendable “but it could be better and elaborately done to the benefit of Lagos citizens, if PDP holds political power.”

The former Vice President stated that PDP is in every way better and wears human face more than other parties.

He commended the initiative of the organiser, stressing: “Everything should not be left to government alone. Our focus if we win next year would be to uplift Nigerian youths and create enabling environment that will take Nigerians out of poverty.

“The coming election would not just be a contest between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP but Nigerians are directly involved this time. They are much more concerned due to the level of hardship in the country. It is for Lagos PDP to bury their differences and work as a team. This is the only means they can take over the state in 2023.”

Atiku noted that the good gesture initiated by Ogungbe was one of the good qualities the PDP is known for.

He, therefore, promised to revive the gesture when he becomes the president of the country and it will be replicated in Lagos when the party takes over government in the state.

Ogungbe said he came up with the initiative because of the compassion he has for the masses, promising that he would always work for the success of the party and promote its interest.

He, therefore, charged the beneficiaries to make good use of it, just as he appealed to parents and guardians to encourage their children/wards to be serious and committed to doing good things.
