Bandits abduct 11-year-old girl, sales boy in Niger varsity community

The attack, which came as a rude shock to the university community, occurred barely two weeks after armed bandits attacked and took away some members of University of Abuja community.

An eyewitness and a member of a vigilante in the area, Tanko Idris told The Guardian that the bandits came on foot into the Federal University of Technology premise with AK.47 and cutlasses, and attacked the shop at the gate of the university.

Idris also dismissed reports on social media that students of Federal University of Technology, Minna were among the victims.

He maintained that no student was attacked, pointing out that most of the them had gone to main campus for a matriculation party.

The shop owner, Mr. Emeka Nweke, whose shop was attacked, confirmed that his 11-year -old daughter and his sales boy were taken away by the bandits, adding that the abductors have not made contact yet.

The District Head of Kidan Kwanu, Alhaji Abdulmalik Muhammad explained that the bandits killed one Ayuba Dauda, and inflicted injuries on two other persons, who are currently receiving treatment at Minna General Hospital and IBB Specialist Hospital.

He stressed that the attack would make the community to device a more robust security measures.
