• Troops arrest six kidnappers

The Berom Youth Moulders (BYM) has confirmed that no fewer than 13 persons were killed in separate attacks on communities in Jos South, Mangu and Riyom local council areas of Plateau State on Sunday night.
   
Nine of the victims, said to be passengers travelling to Jos, were killed when suspected terrorists opened fire on their vehicle at Dungu community, while the others were killed in separate attacks in Mangu and Riyom.
   
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Government has expressed grave concern at the fresh attacks and the killings.
   
In a statement, the Plateau Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, said the incidents were deeply disturbing, especially as the state government and partners have been strengthening peace and security through sustained dialogue and community engagement.
  
In another development, the Northeast Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) said it received a surrendered Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist at Borgozo in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Council Area of Borno State, and also arrested six kidnappers operating around the Soktu Hill in Song Local Council Area of Adamawa State.
   
BYM Spokesman, Rwang Tengwong, disclosed that the incident occurred around 9.40 p.m. on Sunday, adding that among the victims was a member of the state security outfit, Operation Rainbow.
   
According to him, some of the passengers sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital, where some later died.
   
In Mangu, suspected terrorists also reportedly attacked Vodni in Pushit District at night, killing two persons, while four others sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Mangu town.
   
Also, two persons were reportedly killed at Tahoos in Riyom council area in a separate attack at about the same time.
   
Meanwhile, the Acting Military Information Officer, OPHK, Capt. Mohammed Goni, disclosed in a statement yesterday that the kidnappers were arrested following credible intelligence on their activities.
   
According to Goni, preliminary investigation revealed that the syndicate had been operating within the Soktu, Dumne and Maigero general areas of Song council.
   
The suspects, he said, also admitted involvement in the abduction of several victims for ransom, among other violent crimes within the area.
