Two officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were yesterday confirmed dead and 10 others missing after gunmen attacked two buses conveying 26 officials in Nasarawa State.
 
The vehicles on their way to the FRSC Academy in Udi, Enugu State, was said to have come under attack at about 8:00 a.m. at Udege Junction, on the Mararaban-Udege expressway in Adoka, Nasarawa State.

 
Those missing were alleged to have been kidnapped by the gunmen suspected to be bandits.
 
Confirming the incident, Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, in a statement, said the operatives, traveling from Sokoto and Kebbi States, were ambushed and attacked at Udege junction.
 
“One died during the attack, another died in the hospital, four were injured, eight escaped unhurt, and ten others were kidnapped by the assailants.”
 
Kazeem disclosed that the FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, had reported the attack to relevant authorities.
 
“The Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, has immediately reported the incident to relevant authorities for prompt rescue of the kidnapped staff while investigation to ensure that the assailants are brought to book is ongoing.
 
“The Corps Marshal has called on all staff of the commission not to be deterred by this unfortunate incident. He assured them that the commission would work closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the criminal elements are brought to book and justice served, while the missing officers are found,” Kazeem said.
