The Chairperson of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) Hajiya Jummai Abubakar has declared the candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as winners of the Monday local government election conducted across the 20 councils.
While declaring the results on Monday evening after the conduct of the exercise, Jummai said that the conduct was peaceful and fair.
Although, a coalition of opposition political parties had on Sunday withdrew from the election, citing “injustice” from the conduct of the electoral umpire.
Bala Mohammed, the state governor, has described the withdrawal of the opposition parties as a result of APM popularity and the impending failure at the ballot.
“The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) hereby announces the results of the Local Government Council Elections held across the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State on Monday, 17th August, 2026.
She said that following the conclusion of voting, counting, collation and verification, she was satisfied with the outcome and declared all the APM winners.
In 323 wards, APM cleared 319 seats, while the other four seats were taken by the SDP in Dandango Ward; Bauchi LGA, NRM in Darazo South Ward; Darazo LGA, ZLP Wandi Ward; Dass LGA and YPP: Zirami Ward; Giade LGA.
