Bauchi may return Yankari Game Reserve to FG
The Bauchi State Government has hinted that it might transfer the ownership of the Yankari Game Reserve for “proper management” of the tourist centre.
Governor Bala Mohammed said his administration was equally planning to revive the facility to boost the state’s revenue generation.
He regretted that the park had suffered setbacks over the years, leading to the death of several elephants and extinction of some other species of animals.
“My government will reach out to international bodies to revitalise Yankari. We must review the management of the place, protect the species, satisfy environmentalists and the plants that are there,” the governor said.
