Bayelsa partners agency to boost MSME ecosystem

The Bayelsa Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (BYMEDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SureAid Development for Economic Stimulus to boost Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) ecosystem in the state.

SureAid is a microfinance investment organisation working with a number of charities. The agreement was signed during the Small and Medium Enterprises, (SME) Dialogue Series held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Speaking as a guest presenter at the occasion, founder, Society for Advancement of Village Economy and Chairperson, SureAid Development, Mrs. Sampa Banerjee, said there was urgent need for self-help groups and start-ups to access finance and small loans.

She explained this would help small businesses grow, urging financial institutions to partner SMEs to achieve their set goals, thereby tackling unemployment.

Director-General, Yenagoa Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Warmete Idikio, during the dialogue series, called on SMEs to be passionate and ensure they have information needed to boost their businesses.

Director-General, BYMEDA, Mr. Ebiekure Eradiri, called on entrepreneurs to grow their businesses to have greater impact on the state and nation’s economy.
