The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the timely replacement and delivery of all electoral materials lost in a recent boat mishap in Koluama, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
PDP, in a statement on X on Saturday, expressed concern over the incident, which it said could potentially disenfranchise the people of Koluama during today’s governorship election.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should ensure that the people of Koluama in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State are not disenfranchised in the Bayelsa State Governorship election due the loss of election materials in Friday, November 10, 2011 boat mishap,” PDP noted.
The party called on INEC to “reassure the people” of Koluama and the entire Bayelsa State by ensuring the timely replacement and delivery of all the electoral materials to Koluama.
PDP also stated that it would continue to monitor the electoral process in Bayelsa State to ensure its credibility.
