Benin monarch tasks UBTH on service delivery
Oba of Benin, HRM Ewuare II, has charged doctors and other staff of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) to be more professional and exhibit good conduct in their duties.
The monarch stated this when the management of the hospital led by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Darlington Obaseki, visited his palace to brief him on activities lined up for the inaugural Founders’ Day celebration.
He, however, commended the CMD and his management team for striving to keep the ideals of the hospital’s founding fathers.
Oba Ewuare II pointed out that the incessant strike by resident doctors in the hospital was a source of concern to the palace and expressed satisfaction that relative peace had been restored.
The OmoN’Oba expressed dismay over the deteriorating state of facilities and equipment in UBTH and called on government and the hospital management to improve on them, to serve patients better.
Commending the hospital management for its choice of former head of state, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, as special guest for the celebration, the king wished them a peaceful and successful event.
