Benue clarifies seizure of Suswam’s lodge
Benue State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Michael Gusa, has debunked rumours that Governor Samuel Ortom ordered the take-over of the Atom Kpera Lodge purportedly allocated to his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam.
In an interview with The Guardian, Gusa said it was the State Executive Council that revoked the allocation as the facility was allegedly illegally acquired.
He alleged that Suswam “misused power and allocated a government lodge to himself before necessary application was tendered.”
The commissioner added that Suswam took government to the Makurdi High Court but lost, hence the state regained its property.
Gusa maintained that by law, the state government was right to take over the property, as there was not any restraining order.
