Benue government cautions against building on drainages, channels

The Benue State Government has cautioned against building structures close to the drainage leading from Wurukum through Zone 4 police headquarters to Achusa and other areas of Makurdi or risk demolition of their structures.

The Benue State Government has cautioned against building structures close to the drainage leading from Wurukum through Zone 4 police headquarters to Achusa and other areas of Makurdi or risk demolition of their structures.

It also disclosed that over 500 illegal structures have been earmarked for demolition across the state.

General Manager, Benue State Urban Development Board, Saint Gbilekaa, who stated this in Makurdi, explained that out of the over 500 illegal buildings in the state, at least 300 were in Makurdi.

He noted that the board has commenced demolition of illegal structures, especially around the Old Makurdi Bridge, New Garage, Wadata, Wurukum and Benue State University in the state capital.
