The Chancellor of Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), Ibadan, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has said that the university will continue to maintain its stance against promiscuity, violence and cultism.

Bishop Oke, who is President of the Sword of The Spirit Ministries, as well as President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), said the zero-tolerance stance against vices on campus remained unchanged.

He stated this during the unveiling of Prof. Timothy Adejumo as the second Vice Chancellor of PCU, following the expiration of Prof. Julius Oloke’s tenure as the pioneer VC, and Pastor Morenike Afolabi was unveiled as the new Registrar of the institution.

The two principal officers were inaugurated by the university’s Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Adebayo Adegoke at the Board Room of the institution in Ibadan.

The Chancellor said: “This is a faith-based university. We are so consumed by our passion to make sure that the spiritual welfare of our children and members of staff are well looked after to ensure that everybody that passes through the gate of the university has an encounter with God.

“We give thanks that in PCU for the past five years, a solid foundation was laid.”

Oke, however, restated the management’s resolve to prioritise academic excellence and spiritual soundness.

In his response, the new VC pledged to engage all stakeholders in the institution.

He said: ‘Let us work together to embrace the opportunities and the challenges that lie ahead of us. With collective effort, I am confident that we shall achieve new heights of success in education, research, and service to our community, and contribute meaningfully to the realms of education and research. Your insights will guide us in shaping a vibrant and forward-thinking academic community that will uphold the mission and vision of the university and further elevate the institution’s standing on the global stage.

”I look forward to walking this path of a fruitful and inspiring tenure with you, and I am confident that with strong faith in God, we will achieve remarkable milestones and impact lives positively.”
