Bode George, Iwuanyanwu call for National Unity at 2023 independent awards
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, who was honoured with lifetime achievement award at the 2023 Independent Awards in Lagos yesterday, has called for concerted and collective efforts towards rebuilding Nigeria, saying this is not the time for politics.
George, who said this while receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award, also commended Independent Newspapers Limited for honouring him.
“This is not time for too much speech because we must all come together and remain one to build our nation. I commend Daily Independent for this award and say May God bless you. I really appreciate this award because it means a lot to me,” he said.
Also speaking in the same vein, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, represented by his daughter, Ihekanma, praised INL for the award, saying it would challenge her father to do more.
“He appreciates this award and I thank Daily Independent Newspaper for finding me worthy of this honour while I am alive.
“I pray that Independent continues to prosper. This is a huge honour for me and I also thank everyone who made it possible. I am very happy,” she said.
