Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to reduce the pump price of fuel to N300 per litre from December 15 to January 31, 2025.

During a media parley on Wednesday, George said, “This gesture will cushion the effect of hardship on Nigerians during the Christmas season and New Year celebrations.”

He emphasised the importance of giving back to citizens, stating, “If you do something good to somebody, what would he do back to you? Make you happy?”

George also called for a review of the 1999 constitution, describing it as “military” and “undemocratic.” He advocated for decentralisation, citing the American system as an example.

“We copied the American system, but our constitution concentrates power at the centre,” George said. “We need to revisit the 2014 national conference report to address these issues.”

Additionally, George rejected calls for power to return to the North, emphasising Nigeria’s history predating 1999.

“Nigeria didn’t start in 1999; it started in 1960. We must focus on unity and progress, not regional agendas.”
