The Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BoSAN) yesterday sought audience with the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Mohammad Tanko, over appointment of Supreme Court justices.

It made the appeal at the special valedictory session in honour of Justice Amiru Sanusi, who retired from the Supreme Court bench having attained the retirement age of 70 years.

According to the body, the meeting will serve to address alleged exclusion of senior lawyers from appointment directly to the benches of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

Chief Onomigbo Okpoko (SAN), who delivered the speech of the Chairman, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN), stated that exclusion of senior lawyers from appointments into the bench of the apex court has become a national concern, as it robes the bench and nation of the best in the judiciary.
