Buhari confers GCFR on Tinubu, GCON on Shettima

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday confered National Honours on the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima at a ceremony attended and witnessed by high profile members of the society including the diplomatic corps.

The ceremony which is underway is holding at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Guest had a herculean time travasing the tight traffic build up on the rout leading to the Banquet Hall, venue of the investiture on the President-elect and the Vice President-elect, Shettima.

The guests in their hundreds, including members of the diplomatic corps, braced the State House snail-speed security checks on the roads travassing from the Federal Secretariat and Fire Service routes, to witness the epoch making conferment being witnessed by many in the hall filled to capacity.

The ward of the National Honours in the category of GCFR and GCON to the President-elect and Vice President-elect respectively, as well as the official Hand-over of Transition of Documents ceremonies is an integral part of events lined up for the inauguration of the 16th Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The conferment of the highest national honour of the rank of the GCFR by President Buhari on his successor and the conferment of the rank of GCON is in accordance with the tradition of honouring all Nigerian presidents and Vice Presidents respectively.
