Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) on winning the governorship elections in Imo and Kogi States.

Buhari, in a statement on his X, thanked the people of Imo and Kogi for reaffirming their confidence in the ruling party.

He thanked the party leaders and the workers who ensured the re-emergence of Senator Hope Uzodimma for his second term in Imo State and Alhaji Usman Ododo as the new governor of Kogi State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Uzodinma the winner of Saturday’s governorship election.

Uzodimma scored 540,308 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, who scored 71,503 votes to place second.

The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Athan Achonu, came in third with 64,081.

Ododo won the Kogi governorship election with 446,237 votes, defeating his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who got 259,052.

Sen. Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) pulled 46,362 votes.
