. Reiterates stance on subsidy, security
. Receives Jegede, loyalists into ADC fold in Ondo

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has stated that the party must replicate the massive voter turnout and protection of votes witnessed during the last governorship election in Osun State in every state across the country.

Atiku stated this on Thursday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, during the formal reception of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the state, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), and his supporters into the ADC fold.

The ADC standard bearer, who described the Osun election as evidence of the people’s power, stated that the party must adopt the same strategy in every state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that the people of Osun State demonstrated that power truly belongs to the electorate when they come out en masse and guard their votes, adding that the ADC would mobilise and replicate the model nationwide.

“You saw what happened in the last election in Osun State, where there’s massive turnout of voters and massive protection of votes. ADC must do the same in every state.

“You can see our brother Eyitayo and friend and his associates have joined us. We are winning,” Atiku said.

The former vice president also reiterated the party’s commitment to restoring the fuel subsidy regime and securing every part of the country if elected.

He lamented that Nigeria had dropped from being Africa’s finest economy to the fifth position under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), attributing the country’s economic decline and worsening insecurity to the APC-led federal government.

“We are committed to restoring subsidy; we are committed to restoring security all over this country. If we are elected, no part of this country will feel insecure anymore.

“You know what we did between 1999 and 2007; we took Nigeria to be the first finest economy in Africa. Today we are number five. Who are responsible for taking us down and backwards? Is it not APC? This is the moment for us to vote them out. And there’s this popular saying now that Tinubu must go,” he added.

The ADC National Chairman, David Mark, represented by party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, urged the electorate to use their votes to determine the strength of the party.

He noted that the party is poised to mobilise and win from the January and February elections in 2027, promising that ADC will bring down the high cost of living.

“We are going to let everyone know that ADC is the boss when we vote from January to February. We are going to mobilise to win. You can see things are costly; we are going to bring it down. It is our vote that would determine the strength of our political party. As we came out today, let’s vote ADC massively.”

Speaking after his reception, Jegede attributed his defection to the prevailing unemployment, hardship, and suffering in the country.

“There is unemployment in Nigeria; you can all see that. There is hardship; you can all see that. The suffering is too much. The journey has begun. We want a democratic government. We are sure of winning for Senate, Reps, and President. We are going to mobilise and unite to win come 2027. All the PDP members loyal to me have moved to ADC.”
