Buhari inaugurates N21b medical facility tomorrow

President Muhammadu Buhari will, tomorrow, inaugurate the modern Presidential/VIP Wing of State House Medical Centre, Abuja. The legacy project, situated within premises of the Presidential Villa, is coming in fulfilment of the administration’s commitment to advance healthcare management in the country.

The legacy project, situated within premises of the Presidential Villa, is coming in fulfilment of the administration’s commitment to advance healthcare management in the country. 

The groundbreaking was performed by Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, on November 1, 2021. Occupying 2,485 square metres on a suspended floor, with a basement, the hospital, which serves as a specialised Intensive Care Centre, will cater to the needs of the President, Vice President, their immediate families and VIPs.

The wing houses several specialised departments to be staffed by a team of medical professionals, featuring five consultation rooms, dedicated to various specialties, including respiratory, cardiology, ophthalmology, ENT and general consultation.
 
Additionally, the hospital has a specialised X-ray suite equipped with a digital machine, as well as a diagnostic suite encompassing MRI, CT scan and endoscopy facilities.
 
Moreover, patients and visitors can enjoy access to a ‘Healing Garden’, designed to foster healing, relaxation and enhancement of wellness. With a total cost of N21 billion and completed on schedule, the VIP wing also boasts of a Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath lab), two operating rooms for regular and special procedures such as organ transplants.
