Buhari names Mohammed Adamu as acting IGP

Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday named Mohammed Adamu as the acting inspector general of police following the statutory retirement of Ibrahim Idris.

Idris, who retired after 35 years of active service, was appointed IGP on 21 March 2016. He replaced Solomon Arase.

Until his appointment, Adamu was an assistant inspector-general of police.
