The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday urged Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his strong political will would revive the nation’s economy.

This is contained ‎in a statement released to newsmen in Abuja by National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni.

According to the statement, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should stop making insensitive comments about the economy as the government is conscious of the hardship its citizens are faced with.

‎Buni said: ”In reacting to the orchestrated and insensitive comments by the PDP on the economy, the APC urges the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to remain focused in its bold bid to restore economic growth in the country.

”In spite of PDP’s orchestrated and feeble attempts to blackmail the current administration and twist facts, the reality remains that the prevailing socio-economic hardship faced by Nigerians is a direct consequence of the mismanagement of the economy.

“It also includes the unprecedented looting of the country’s commonwealth perpetrated under PDP’s watch.

”The PDP’s attempt to turn truth on its head is fraudulent, insensitive and an insult to Nigerians.

”For the umpteenth time, the PDP must own up to its transgression and apologise to Nigerians.

”Going forward, the urgent task before the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration is to restore the country’s battered economy back to health.

“All legitimate and innovative means are being employed to achieve this in the quickest possible time.

”The APC assures Nigerians of the strong political will and commitment of Buhari’s administration to revive the economy and tackle the nation’s current challenges through suitable and well-thought economic policies, fiscal discipline and socio-political reforms.”

He said that ‎among other strategic economic agenda planned by the government, diversification of the country’s economy was a priority.

”To this end, Buhari is aggressively formulating and implementing policies aimed at diversifying Nigeria’s economy from oil to other sectors such as agriculture, mining and manufacturing.

”The APC assures Nigerians that the administration will pull the country out of the present hardships.

”With the support, cooperation, patience and prayers of Nigerians, the country will reach its deserved potential under our leadership,” Buni added.‎

The comment by APC leadership advising Buhari to “exercise political will” in combating the ever worsening economic crisis in Nigeria is really interesting!

Angola, a country that is battling economic crisis caused by sinking oil prices is like Nigeria; a mono product economy, is also a country distressed by super scale corruption that matches Nigeria Naira for Kwanza! Angola has also monumentally wasted its resources in white elephant projects, is now also struggling to keep afloat! The difference is that the President of Angola today, was the same yesterday. President, Jose Eduardo dos Santos just recently sacked its finance minister Armando Manuel. That was political will.

Is this what APC party hunchos are afraid to tell Buhari and applying semantics? Why? Could this be related to APC’s internal political house of cards situation that requires careful shuffling and balancing?

The Next few weeks will be indeed interesting for juggling of the posts, there must be. How many, who, when is difficult to ascertain. Call it what you may, political or economic will, we shall soon know who and how many will be the fall guy/s

That was the OLD Finance Minister who did not anticipate the oil price and diversify the economy of Angola.
There was also massive corruption in Angola

Nigeria has already sacked the Jonathan Administration and its MOF for the same offence through elections.

The new Minister we have now is already saving us Billions and collecting correct taxes. She has lined up financing for developmental projects that stimulate growth.

Please always read things RIGHT. Stop all these lack of astuteness in looking at issues.

APC has to decide on what course it wants to take. It should either Seriously go after the stollen wealth, recover it and use it to stimulate economic growth instead of just splashing blames all over and hoping it will stick to something or someone, or get down to business, stop dwelling in the past, install competent and well groomed experts in rehabilitating the economy.

There is no doubt that PDP acted like cowboys in their 16 years of senseless orgies of looting. Do not forget that over half of present APC members were the same politicians that shamelessly decamped and put wool over the eyes of Nigerians claiming that they are the change that we seek. The point is Nigerians are waiting for that ” change” which is now turning into a joke, except for the grim reality of ever worsening and abject poverty that is ravaging this entire nation.

The dilemma of Buhari is, can he truly go after ALL the looters in a non-partisan way without bringing down his own house? But our being strapped for cash can be solved by going where the money is. We all know it is in private hands. If I were Buhari, that is the easier approach to solving this problem!

When will APC refrain from deceiving Nigerians and making empty promises?

    • james_grim_teacher

Having “will” to do something is a promise?. This is just a confidence building statement aimed at investors and positive minded Nigerians.
It was not aimed at people who don’t understand simple English.
