Buhari seeks input of laureates in economic recovery
President Muhammadu Buhari has urged eminent laureates to proffer solution to the current economic recession.
The president made this call yesterday in Abuja while opening the ninth annual Forum of Laureates of the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM).
He said utmost attention must be paid to the economic challenges confronting the nation especially the declining value of the naira.
Buhari, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal said, “we welcome qualitative ideas which would aid development and diversification of the economy.
“Most of the challenges the country is facing did not just start today. What we now require is bold ideas for quick solution to the economic recession,” he said.
The Board Chairman of NNOM, Prof. Etim Essien told journalists that the need to seek alternatives to the economy prompted the theme of this year’s forum, “Mono-economy, diversification, exchange rate stability and development of the Nigerian nation.”
