Buhari visits, backs Muhammad-Bande’s presidency of UNGA
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in New York paid a courtesy call on president of the 74th United Nations General Assembly, Prof. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, promising him that Nigeria was solidly behind him in the execution of this onerous task.
The Nigerian diplomat was earlier in the year unanimously elected President of the General Assembly for 12 months.
A statement quoted the host as expressing delight in receiving the Nigerian leader and his entourage.
“Your nominating me for this position is the greatest honour I can have. The support from Africa and the world has been outstanding so far,” he added.
