The President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, has called on Christians to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice that Christ made for humanity by imbibing the virtues of humility, compassion and love for one another.

He noted that the death and resurrection of Christ signifies the triumph of light over darkness.

In his Easter massage, yesterday, in Abuja, Okoh noted that the lessons of Easter hold particular relevance for Nigerian society today, adding that in a time marked by uncertainty, Nigerians should embodied the virtues of love for one another.

He stated that just as Christ’s resurrection brought new life and hope to the world, in the same manner, the nation can rise above its differences and difficulties; and work towards a brighter future.

The CAN President urged leaders, at all levels, to heed the lessons of Easter and to govern with wisdom, fairness, and a genuine commitment to the common good.

He called on Nigerians to embody the spirit of Easter in their daily lives and to practice sacrificial love towards one another

Similarly, the Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna Diocese, Most Rev Matthew Ndagoso, has urged Christians to sustain the change of heart experienced during the Lent season in preparation for Easter by starting to build a new Nigeria.

He stated that Nigeria today needs a radical change of structures, especially of governance adding that the task of Nigeria regaining its lost glory is one that is incumbent on all Nigerians.

According to him, the conversion undergone by Christians during Lent is expected to bear enduring fruits for the common good of all Nigerians and beyond.

In his Easter Massage, yesterday, Ndagoso noted that, over the years, the political class has failed and betrayed the trust of the citizens.

The bishop, who called for a change of attitude and mentality towards governance by the ruling class, warned that their failures need not kill the dreams for a better Nigeria, adding that Nigerians must keep dreaming and working hard to realise the Nigeria dream.

Ndagoso appealed to governments at all levels to do all within their power to help save all the communities besieged by armed bandits, kidnappers, insurgents, cattle rustlers, armed robbers etc as well as make the environment safe for economic activities especially farming ahead of the 2024 farming season.

Also, Primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev Henry Ndukuba, has urged political office holders to imbibe the spirit of servant leadership.

He noted that from Christ’s perspective, leadership means serving orders because ‘Jesus says that anyone that wants to be the head must be the servant of all’ .

Ndukuba who stated this while washing the feet of parishioners during the Passover service at the Cathedral Church of Advent, Life Camp Abuja, observed that Jesus demonstrated humility, servant leadership and love to all including Judas Iscariot, who He knew was to betray him.

He said: “Whenever we look at Jesus, the life he lived, the things he taught us, the examples he left us to follow. It is so amazing. And if we are to be obedient to God and follow the teachings or the Word of God, life will be easy and helping each other will be so simple. “He demonstrated love towards his disciples, including Judas Iscariot, who he knew was to betray him. Even by the time that Jesus was washing the feet of Judas, Judas was carrying 30 pieces of silver in his pocket, and yet he accommodated him,” Ndukuba added.
