CAS tasks Air Force on improving security
The Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar has charged the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to work harder on improving security in the country.
Abubakar gave this charge after concluding a four-day operational tour of the Air Force units in the South-West.
“Teamwork, discipline, and innovation are essential to building an agile and resilient Air Force capable of addressing future security challenges,” he said.
Abubakar reaffirmed the force’s commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and personnel welfare.
From 12 to 15 December 2024, the CAS inspected key facilities at various units, including 055 NAF Camp Victoria Island, 631 Aircraft Maintenance Depot (ACMD) and 643 Equipment Supply Depot (ESD) in Ikeja as well as the 653 NAF Station and 663 NAF Mother & Child Hospital in Badagry, Lagos State.

While in Lagos, he also commissioned the NAF Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) Multipurpose Hall at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, a welfare initiative spearheaded by NAFOWA National President, Architect (Dr) Mrs Rakiya Abubakar.
The CAS next proceeded to the Air Force Comprehensive Secondary School in Igbara-Oke, Ondo State; NAF Institute of Safety, Ipetu Ijesha; and the Air Force Research and Development Institute (AFRDI) Oshogbo, Osun State.
Abubakar also inspected work on the permanent site of the NAF School of Finance and Accounting (NAFSFA) in Ibadan, Oyo State.
At each location, he held Durbars (essentially the military equivalent of Town Hall meetings) with personnel, assessed indigenous technology projects, and provided strategic guidance on ensuring timely and high-quality upgrades aligned with global standards.
