The grand finale of the Nigeria Tiler Competition 2025 recently took place in Lagos. The event spotlighted the nation’s most skilled tilers in a vibrant celebration of craftsmanship and industry excellence.
Organised by Sika Academy Nigeria in collaboration with CDK Integrated Industries Limited, Bosch, and La Roche, it was the culmination of regional contests held in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Abuja. From these, six outstanding finalists emerged: Moses Ayodeji Daniel, Hope Iroanya, Ogunlana Olayinka, Onu Emeka Thompson, Dickson Ime, and Mustapha Opeyemi.
In the electrifying grand finale, contestants were challenged to tile a mock wall and floor within a two-hour timeframe before a live audience and a panel of expert judges. Ogunlana Olayinka emerged the winner and will represent Nigeria at the African edition of the competition in Morocco, with the potential to compete at the global finals in China.
As a key partner, CDK Integrated Industries Limited played a vital role in powering the competition, providing high-quality porcelain tiles that met the demanding standards of the event.
Brand & Marketing Communication Manager at CDK, Abimbola Onagbade, emphasised that the competition aligned with CDK’s Corporate Social Responsibility commitment to capacity building and skill development in the construction sector.
“We are proud to support initiatives that not only promote excellence but also empower artisans and professionals in the built environment,” he said. “CDK will continue to play an active role in advancing quality and skill in the tiling industry.”
CDK’s porcelain tiles are renowned for their superior performance and contemporary design, available in sizes in both matt and polished finishes. They exceed international standards, with key attributes including: 0.5% water absorption ratio, resistance to crazing, high resistance to surface and deep abrasion, stain and chemical resistance and thermal shock resistance.
“These qualities made CDK tiles the ideal material for a competition built on precision, durability, and aesthetics,” Onagbade added. Commending the excellence and collaboration by partners, General Manager of Sika Nigeria, Adil Outgouga, congratulated the participants and lauded all partners, noting that Sika and its collaborators provided complete tiling solutions—from tools and accessories to training.
Distribution Manager at Sika Nigeria, Okechukwu Anyibuofu, hailed the finalists’ resilience and grit through the regional phases, while Gauthier Rabillier, Business Development Manager at Sika Africa, joined fellow judges in overseeing the finale.
Ibrahim Jalo, After Sales Manager and Expert Trainer at Bosch, expressed satisfaction with the participants’ professionalism and encouraged them to continually upskill.
Speaking after his victory, Ogunlana Olayinka expressed gratitude to the organisers and partners for the life-changing opportunity.
“This means everything to me,” he said. “It’s a dream come true. Winning at this level is proof that hard work and consistency pay off. I’m grateful to Sika, CDK, Bosch, and La Roche for organising such a prestigious competition. I look forward to representing Nigeria in Morocco and giving it my best.”
The Nigeria Tiler Competition 2025 not only celebrated technical excellence but also reinforced the value of partnership in building a more skilled, empowered workforce for the construction industry.
