Chipper Cash, in partnership with ActionAid, has provided relief support to persons affected by floods in Bayelsa State.

The relief materials include monetary gifts, food, water, blankets and hygiene kits.

Recall that the Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency said the flood affected no fewer than 1.3 million people, estimated 10,000 people were rendered homeless and displaced, with a death toll currently at 96.

Marketing Campaign Manager at Chipper Cash Nigeria, Goldie Iyamu, said: “We are uniquely positioned to help because we have access to resources that other companies do not have and we are partnering with ActionAid, which has expertise in disaster relief.”

He added that the initiative was kicked off in two clans in Yenagoa: Gbarain and Ekpetiama.

Their goal, according to him, is to help as many people as possible get back on their feet after the tragedy.

“We are committed to assisting the people of Bayelsa, who have been affected by the floods. We know the lives of those affected have been greatly impacted and this initiative will help them get back on their feet again.”

Governance Team Leader, ActionAid, Ene Obi, described the partnership with Chipper Cash as timely because it is the season to put smiles on the faces of families.”

One of the recipients, Rachael Oviri, said: “When I found out I was selected to benefit from this intervention, I was very happy.”
