• Don seeks return to Option A4 for fairer elections
• Adeboye harps on wisdom to move Nigeria forward as Sanwo-Olu promises more development
Nigerians, the church and government have been charged to uphold truth all time for Nigeria to become a greater nation. In his homily, yesterday, to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary by Satellite Town Baptist Church in Lagos, the Church Pastor, Rev. (Dr) Kayode Akintunde, urged all to keep an oath of speaking only the truth even when it hurts.
However, Prof. Gabriel Osoba, in his lecture at the event, stressed that Nigeria needs men with strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands at the moment.
He, therefore, advocated a return to the Option A4 electoral system that produced the nation’s fairest presidential poll in I993.
In another development, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged Nigerians and especially the youths, to seek divine wisdom to move their lives and the nation forward.
He gave the charge, yesterday, during a service to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary at Ebute-Metta, Lagos, which had in attendance Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife, Ibijoke; Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, and others.
Adeboye, who prayed for the government, students and political leaders, urged the youths to stop wasting their time on the Internet but should create time to study and relax.
Sanwo-Olu, in his remarks, gave thanks to God for the peace in the state, assuring the youths of his government’s concern for their plight. He reiterated the commitment of his administration to put in place necessary infrastructures, fix all the bad roads, rehabilitate schools and hospitals as well as ensure food supplies.
