CLP, OSIWA train community leaders in Lagos
Community Life Project (CLP), with support from Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), has trained Lagos community leaders on the importance of civic engagement on accountability in governance.
The workshop, according to the organisers, is aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge on how grassroots citizens and community leaders can partner more effectively with the local government for quality service delivery at the local level.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Francis Onahor, said the participants picked for the workshop are leaders of Community Development Councils (CDC) and community Development Association (CDAs). He said they were educated on how to demand their rights and to ensure accountability in budget and project execution at the grassroots levels.
One of the beneficiaries, Ramutalau Olaniyi, from Amuwo Odofin Local Government, said they were told the importance of paying taxes as well as monitoring how such money is utilized.
