Club donates computers to school, others to herald district governor’s visit

The President (2024-2025) Rotary Club of Gbagada South, Olusaanu Afolabi, has vowed to enhance students’ education, create conducive environment for mankind and improve the lives of struggling entrepreneurs during his one-year service period.
In the circumstance, he led his club to carry out three significant projects during the routine visit to the Club by the pioneer District Governor, Rotary International, District 9112 comprising Lagos and Ogun States, Femi Adenekan.
The projects include tree planting at Oworonshoki Group of Schools, Lagos; commissioning of E-Library Centre with procurement of 10 computers and tables at Gbagada Grammar School, at the cost of N2 million and disbursement of micro-credit of N100,000.00 each to 10 beneficiaries.
Afolabi said: “The three projects including N1.5 million cheque issued to support the district educational and welfare endowment fund cost over N10 million excluding another N3 million raised to also support the district.
“We are targeting $30,000.00 as our contribution to Rotary Foundation and plan to sponsor 20 youths to Rotary Youth Leadership Awards aside from sponsoring the opening programme, among others.
“We have carried out “Enigiser” a robotic competition for the physically challenged targeted at the girl child while we have in the pipeline Rotary Inter-secondary school competition in collaboration with Commissioner for Education, Lagos State, Folashade Adefisayo, among others.” Adenekan commended the club, rating it as one of the clubs whose records were in tandem with the expectations of the District.
