Coalition condemns killing of Gobir emir
The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), on Thursday, condemns the abduction and brutal murder of His Highness Isa Muhammad Bawa, the Emir of Gobir.
They said that the tragic incident is a severe assault on both the esteemed traditional institution and the moral fabric of our society. Such acts are intolerable and must never be repeated.
CNG, in a statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, criticised the Sokoto State Government for its negligent response to the plight of the late emir.

The coalition empathized with the affected families and individuals. For those still in captivity, the Coalition prays for their swift and safe return.
Charanchi said: “This depicts manifest incompetence and utter demonization of our cultural and religious heritage from the Government that is supposed to promote preservation of our tradition and pedigree.
“The CNG is deeply concerned that the Government has failed to prioritize the security and well-being of its people, instead choosing to entangle security issues and traditional institutions in the web of political maneuvering.”
The Coalition extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the emirate, the people of Gobir, Sokoto State, the Sultanate, traditional institutions, and all northern Nigerians. This loss is a national tragedy and serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for decisive action.
The CNG urged all levels of government to recommit to addressing the security challenges plaguing the region.
“The protection of lives and property must be a top priority, with every effort made to restore peace and stability to our communities,” they said.
