Community crisis: Bayelsa govt sets up reconciliation committee

Bayelsa State government has constituted a seven-member committee to look into issues causing hostility in Odioma Community, in Brass Council of the state, to bring lasting peace in the area.

Bayelsa State government has constituted a seven-member committee to look into issues causing hostility in Odioma Community, in Brass Council of the state, to bring lasting peace in the area.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alaowei Ekeuwei, chairs the committee, while its Secretary is the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Biriyai Dambo.

Members of the committee include: Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Thompson Amule, Commissioner for Special Duties (East), Preye Broderick and the Technical Adviser to Governor on Conflict Resolution, Boma Spero-Jack.

Other members are the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Akpoebi Agberebi, and Technical Adviser on Special Duties, Richard Perekeme.

Constituting the Committee during a meeting with the leadership and stakeholders of Odioma in Government House, Yenagoa, yesterday, the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, charged them to be diligent in carrying out their assignment.
