Confusion trails death of 200-level Unizik student

There is confusion over the death of a male student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka, Anambra State, on Friday. The student, said to be in  200 level, is a native of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, studying Industrial Physics before his death. 

The cause of his death is not immediately known, but there are conflicting reports regarding it, which happened on Friday.
An eyewitness, who spoke in confidence, said the body of the late student was  found dangling with rope around his neck inside one of the hostel blocks.

He also said the deceased locked himself inside the room but was later forced open, adding that when the door was broken,
“The corpse was seen dangling with rope around his neck.” Another witness said he never showed any sign of depression before the incident. According to him, the deceased was a quiet and calm student and very jovial. 

In his reaction, the Chief Security Officer of the institution, Mr. Ken Chukwura said the deceased’s roommates have been invited for further questioning as investigation had commenced into the incident.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident, said it was unfortunate, promising that investigations were ongoing.  He said police would unravel the cause of the death.
