Council advocates amendment of CRFFN Act

The Governing Council on Regulation of Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (CRFFN) said the review of the Act establishing the council would promote ease of doing business for effective administration.

The Governing Council on Regulation of Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (CRFFN) said the review of the Act establishing the council would promote ease of doing business for effective administration.

Speaking at the Council Meeting in Abuja, the Registrar, Mr. Samuel Wakoho said this becomes necessary so that the administrative Headquarters of CRFFN will be in Abuja, while the operations office will be in Lagos.He explained that they are working assiduously for the amendment of the Act in 2020 and would be forwarded to National Assembly soon for ratification.

According to Wakoho, a Memorandum of Understanding would be signed with the University of Transportation, Katsina to introduce Freight Forwarding Course, as Sokoto Polytechnic has commenced the programme.

In a related development, the Council said the Gazette on collection of the Practitioners Operating Fees (POF) of January 2018 would be fully implemented soon.“The enforcement team would embark on nationwide enlightenment of Freight Forwarders on collection of the (POF), as well as engage the services of an External Audit Firm to audit the accounts of the CRFFN,” it said.
