A Federal High Court in Abuja has shifted proceedings in a case involving the interim forfeiture of several properties allegedly linked to former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva.

The case, which centres on properties reportedly traced to the former minister, was brought before the court following an application connected to ongoing anti-corruption investigations.

Earlier, the court had granted an interim forfeiture order covering multiple assets said to be linked to Sylva, pending the conclusion of investigations and further legal arguments.

At the resumed sitting, the matter was adjourned to allow for compliance with procedural requirements and to enable relevant parties to present additional filings before the court proceeds with substantive hearing.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is understood to be involved in the matter, as part of its broader probe into alleged financial irregularities tied to public office holdings.

The adjournment means the status of the affected properties remains subject to the court’s interim order until the next hearing date.

The case is expected to continue as the court determines whether the interim forfeiture should be made final or discharged based on evidence before it.
