Court grants Fayose bail

The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, Wednesday granted the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, bail in the sum of N50 million.

The court also said that he provides a surety who must have landed property in Lagos. The guarantor is also required to have three-year tax clearance in Lagos.

The sitting on Wednesday which is his second appearance before the court lasted less than 30 minutes.

Fayose, less than 24 hours after he left his office as the Ekiti state governor on October 16, submitted himself to the anti-corruption agency in the company of Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor, and Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister, and has been in their custody since then.

He was arraigned before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an 11-count charge of conspiracy and money laundering against him.

The anti-graft agency accused him of benefiting from N4.65 billion slush funds allocated by the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
