Custodian GMD wins Almond Insurance industry business award

The Group Managing Director (GMD) of Custodian and Investment Plc., Wole Oshin, has won the 2022 Almond Insurance Industry Business Award For Excellence.

The Group Managing Director (GMD) of Custodian and Investment Plc., Wole Oshin, has won the 2022 Almond Insurance Industry Business Award For Excellence.

The award recognises individuals with a proven track record of professional brilliance, pioneering, innovation and integrity in the country. Recipients of the award are men and women that have contributed to the insurance industry, the companies they work with as well as service to humanity beyond insurance.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Almond Production Limited, Faith Ugwuode, said Oshin was recognised for the enduring innovations he has brought to bear on the industry over the years.

“ Oshin has not only built a successful business, he has also initiated enduring innovations that have impacted and are still impacting the insurance industry. He created the Energy and Allied Insurance Pool of Nigeria during his tenure as Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA).

“He also spearheaded the building of a strong database and IT upgrade of the NIA Secretariat. All these milestones are there for all to see,” she said.
Oshin was, in 2015, appointed Group Managing Director (GMD) of Custodian and Investment Plc.

Before becoming the GMD of the group, he was the Managing Director of Custodian and Allied Insurance Limited (CAIL), the General Insurance business subsidiary.

In his capacity as the Chief Executive of CAIL, Oshin, who founded the group, was instrumental to the growth and development of the company, having led it through successful mergers and acquisitions in the last couple of years.

He is a graduate of Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos and a Chartered Insurer. He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and the Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers. An alumnus of the Harvard Business School, he was the President of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association (LBSAA).
