Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Niger/Kogi Command, has handed over a Mitsubishi Canter truck, carrying railway locomotive parts, to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Officers and men of the command intercepted the vehicle, with registration number SULEJA 51 ZY, along Bida/Minna road.

Briefing journalists before handing over the vehicle and railway tracks to NSCDC Commander in Niger, Ahmed Dandare, at NCS headquarters in Minna, the Area Comptroller, Busayo Kadejo, disclosed that the surveillance patrol team of the command, on May 11, 2023, about 10.30a.m., intercepted the vehicle conveying vandalised railway locomotive parts, belonging to the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC).

Kadejo explained that the driver and other occupants of the vehicle abandoned it and took to their heels, when they were accosted.

“Having sought and obtained necessary approval from the Comptroller General of Customs, I hereby hand over the intercepted Mitsubishi Canter with the railway locomotive parts to the Commander, NSCDC, Niger State Command, for further action,” he added.

Lauding the officers and men of the command, who intercepted the truck, he reassured that the command would continue to collaborate with other security agencies in the state to achieve its desired objectives.

Dandare appreciated the Customs boss and assured him that NSCDC would do everything within its power to fish out the perpetrators of the act, and ensure that they are dealt with accordingly.

He urged citizens to remain law-abiding and respect constituted authority.
