The wife of the immediate past governor of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola, has advised women to work hard to be successful and pray for one another.

The wife of the immediate past governor of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola, has advised women to work hard to be successful and pray for one another.

She spoke at the yearly Valentine Love Feast for Widows organised by Head High International Organisation, a body championing the cause of women, their children, orphans and vulnerable children.

She said: “Women should help one another, putting God first in our endeavours. Women should do their best and rely on God, knowing that promotion comes from Him. We should teach our children the ways of the Lord, show them love, counsel them and give them direction in life.”

According to the founder, Head High International Organisation, Pastor Tinu Odugbemi, the aim of the feast is to reach out to those who might be missing their loved ones.

She said: “To us, the Valentine Day and indeed everyday is a time to manifest pure love, not contaminated by pretense, lust, infidelity and loose emotions or passions.”

She said the foundation, which started 16 years ago, came out of a divine inspiration and instruction given to her by God to study the book of Ruth in the Bible. “In the course of reading, God opened my eyes to see that there are categories of widows, and that led me into working with them.

“Presently, Head High International Organisation has presence in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, Niger and the Federal Capital Territory. We are working on our Skills Acquisition Centre in Isolo, Lagos, which will be in full operation soon.”
