Former Governor Joshua Dariye of Plateau State has been ushered into Jos, the state capital, by a crowd of supporters and admirers weeks after obtaining presidential pardon on health grounds.

He had been indicted and sentenced to 10-year imprisonment for N1.12 billion fraud during his eight-year stewardship between 1999 and 2007.

The ex-governor had served some years in Kuje Prison, Abuja prior to the April 14, 2022 reprieve by the National Council of State presided over President Muhammadu Buhari.

The plane conveying the senator touched ground on Wednesday afternoon at the Heipang Airport in Jos South Council of the state, from where he headed straight to the Government House at Little Rayfield, Jos.

He was received by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Danladi Atu, on behalf of Governor Simon Lalong.

Pleading with the mammoth crowd for the late homecoming, he thanked them for their prayers and the President for being magnanimous, as well as the people who trooped out to welcome him.

Dariye, thereafter, visited the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Buba and other personalities before proceeding for the grand reception held in his honour.

He stated that God had disappointed those who wished him to remain incarcerated.
