The Delta State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Delta State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Solomon Areyinka, to immediately vacate the PDP Secretariat he is illegally occupying.
According to the Delta State PDP Publicity Secretary, Kingsley Akpos Oturubo, the Secretariat was acquired in the name of the PDP with all documents bearing the party’s name, stressing that the secretariat was built long before the APC came into existence as a political party.
Currently, the APC occupies two state secretariats, one at Anwai Road, which is their state office, while Areyinka, the current State Chairman, through the aid of the Delta State government, allegedly took over the PDP Secretariat, located at WAEC Road, Off Mariam Babangida Way, Asaba, and adorned it with the APC colours and flags.
Oturubo stated: “Not only is the PDP State Secretariat illegally occupied, but some of these people who have decamped to the APC since April 2025 are also still using the PDP bank accounts.
We have already detailed the relevant anti-graft agencies to apprehend these fraudsters and make them produce all that they have taken from our treasury.
“The Delta State Chapter of the PDP, under the leadership of Dr Peter Mrakpor, has been strongly repositioned to reclaim our mandates at all levels. We know that those who ran away with our mandates have been jittery since the inauguration of Mrakpor ‘s-led State Executive Committee of the PDP.
He stated that Areyinka is not the Chairman of the PDP in Delta State and cannot use property legally acquired by the party. He added that there is no state in the country where a political party has two secretariats in a state
The PDP accused the state government of aiding the illegal and unconstitutional occupation of the PDP property, saying that documents to the secretariat property bear the PDP’s name and not the APC.
