Delta Police nab four suspected cultists, car snatcher

Operatives of Delta State Police Anti-Cult unit, yesterday, raided the hideout of suspected cultists and arrested four of them at Eloke Hotel, Issele Azagba, near Asaba in Aniocha South Local Council of the state.

  
The suspects, all males, are Ogbuokwu Trust ‘m’, 23, Augustine  Solomon ‘m’, 20, Edebatu Gideon ‘m’ and Kingsley Okolie ‘m’, 20.
   
The State Police Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest said: “ On April 17, information got to the Command that a group of suspected cultists and armed robbers were hibernating at Eloke Hotel located in Issele Azagba, the location was their meeting point before carrying out their operations”.  
 
Edafe further revealed that the syndicate monitored to know if the police were closing upon them and that whenever they suspect anything, they throw their guns from the window of the hotel and run away.   
 

According to the PPRO, two locally-made cut to size guns and four live cartridges were recovered from them.
   
Also a 57-year-old Mkohol Iligh, suspected to be a car snatcher was arrested by the Anti-Crime Patrol of Ogwashi-Uku Police Station, along  Kwale/Ogwashi-Uku expressway near Olloh-Ogwashi Community.  
  
Eadafe explained that on April 17, 2022, the Command received a distress call from a caller (Name withheld) that his Toyota Camry car marked EFR 939 TK was snatched at about 2000hours of the same date in Otu-Jeremi community of Ughelli South Local Council of the state.
   
“Following this, information was quickly disseminated through the Command’s control room to all DPOs and Patrol teams to be on the lookout with a view to recovering the said vehicle and arresting the suspects.  
 
“Consequently, at about 0635hrs Anti-Crime Patrol of Ogwashi-Uku Police Station, while on routine stop and search duty, intercepted the said Toyota Camry. “The occupant, who happens to be the driver of the vehicle upon sighting the Police, abandoned the car and took to his heels. The team went after the suspect and after a hot chase caught up with him and he was arrested.
 
The suspect had informed the Police that one C.Y, ‘m’, who stays in Warri gave him the car to be delivered to another person in Asaba,” Edafe added.
