Dolapo Osinbajo appeals to rich Nigerians to uplift the downtrodden
Late mother’s foundation trains 810 in Imo
With the opening heart -felt words: Arise o compatriots” the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo urged wealthy Nigerians to begin to make serious commitments to their fellow Nigerians who are poor, by assisting them with skills acquisition and money to start off small scale businesses in order to stimulate the economy.
Osinbajo, made this appeal yesterday during the graduation ceremony of about 810people trained in 10 vocations by the Project Ayodele Foundation in collaboration with Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha and Women of Divine Destiny Initiative (WODDI), held at the Imo International Conference Centre, Owerri.
The ceremony was attended by Governor Rochas Okorocha, his wife, Nkechi, Imo’s deputy governor, Eze Madumere, wives of the governors of Enugu and Abia states, Monica Ugwuanyi and Nkechi Ipkeazu, respectively; deputy speaker of the state, Ugonna Ozuruigbo, Chief Judge of Imo State, Paschal Nnadi; Comptroller of Immigration in Imo, Nneka Uchenna, amongst others, Osinbajo revealed that the foundation was in memory of her late mother, who died five years ago, disclosing that it took off in Lagos, in July 20, 2011, and was essentially to empower youths and reduce unemployment in the country’.
Gladdened that over N40 million was raised, Osinbajo said over 850 had been trained in Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ondo and Ogun states, in Events Decoration; Cocktails and small chops making, Liquid soap, air freshener, bar soap and disinfectants; Party Planning and so on. She further urged Nigerians to patronize the products of the participants to ensure multiplier effects.
