The resuscitation of the moribund Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja, now Premium Steel and Mines Limited (PSML), to production level has begun, just as the Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) has concluded the settlement of salary arrears owed former staff.

The Chief Executive Officer of Premium Steel, Mr. Prasanta Mishra, disclosed this while donating a brand new ambulance to the Premium Hospital at the weekend.

He affirmed that as part of revamping the steel complex, it is ordering an upgraded electrical control automation technology from abroad as well as changing obsolete equipment, machines and critical technological components preparatory to full blown production of steel products by the end of 2017.

He said PSML would soon employ competent and experienced engineers, young men and women to meet the staff need of the company in line with modern trends in the steel sector, urging the Udu people to continue to support it.

The company also donated a brand new 20 KVA Perkins power generating set and 64 units of brand new desktop computer units to DSC Primary School 3, Orhuwhorun, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

While appreciating the effort of Owhorhu 1, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom and Udu elders with full support from governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the CEO praised the host communities for providing the enabling environment to restart the plant.
