Ebonyi State Government yesterday threatened to demote any school principals in the state that collects unapproved West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) fees from students and parents.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Dr. Onyebuchi Chima, in a statement in Abakaliki, said that only N16,600 was approved for WAEC and N12,500 for NECO for all the students both in private and public schools in the state.

He described unapproved ones as illegal and unacceptable and advised any school principal who might have collected unapproved fees to immediately refund all the monies or face disciplinary action of demotion.
