Ebonyi State government, at the weekend, said the multi-billion-naira Ebonyi International Airport is ready for use and will commence test flights this week, adding that the Federal Ministry of Aviation has confirmed it.

The Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on Infrastructural Development for Concession, Frank Ngwu, made the revelation while conducting journalists around the airport. He said the airport is the biggest in the country.

He noted that the world would be amazed by the level of infrastructure that has been put in place at the airport, coupled with the level of modern equipment. He noted that they are all made in Europe and the best, as well as latest equipment in the aviation industry.

Frank maintained that everything has been put in place, such as the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), the police, and immigration fully completed and other buildings within the airport such as substations, halls, switch rooms and so on.

He said: “We are ready for the test flight. As you can see, we are here at the runway, and you can see the level of marking on the runway. One can say that 95 per cent of the runway has been marked and it will be concluded in the next three days.”
