Edo commissions 30-bed isolation facility
• NEDC Provides Ambulances, Hospital Beds For Yobe Isolation Centres
Edo State government, yesterday, commissioned a 30-bed isolation centre at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin City, as it ramps up efforts to curtail the spread of coronavirus.
The state’s Deputy Governor and Chairman, Technical Sub-committee on COVID-19 Response, Philip Shaibu, who commissioned the facility, said the centre was built in record 12 days and would serve as a major centre for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) has donated two ambulances and 50 hospital beds to the Yobe State government for COVID-19 isolation centres in the state.
During the presentation in Damaturu, NEDC’s Executive Director, Muhammad Jawa said the donations are part of palliatives measures to contain COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, who was represented by his deputy, Idi Gubana, said the commission’s support had come at an appropriate time.
