Chairman, Edo State Media and Publicity Directorate, APC Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 election, Mr. John Mayaki, on Wednesday admonished, Mr. Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September 21st 2023 governorship election in Edo state to perish the thought of any miracle in the ongoing sitting of the election petitions tribunal.

Mayaki, who was reacting to the testimony of the first set of witnesses presented by the petitioners said, “the arguments and testimonies of their witnesses are not only frivolous, and bogus but also based on hearsay.

“I have no doubt that this is the pattern of outing expected from their witnesses and so, I see a situation where the Honourable court will dismiss this petition as totally lacking in merit, substance and bona fide.

“If there was ever any case completely starved of evidence to prove that Senator Monday Okpebholo did not win the election, this is certainly one. Clearly, we can all see that this case is crying to high heavens in vain to be fed with relevant and admissible evidence.

“The PDP and their candidate, Asue Ighodalo have failed woefully to realise that judges do not act like oracles. These tribunal Judges you see cannot perform miracles with hearsay evidence for the purpose of assisting the petitioner win his case.

“In Peter Obi’s case against the President, even Channels TV witness was brought to court to testify against the victory of the president. Even, they brought $460k US Forfeiture and exam transcript among several others and the court admitted them but that doesn’t make the case watertight or guaranteed victory.

“One thing is certain, justice is blind. If you like, bring hearsay evidence and be sleeping in the Courtroom, it will not see you. The court will reaffirm the election of Governor Monday Okpebholo while the PDP and their candidate, Asue Ighodalo will congratulate him.”
