The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Edo State Branch, on Friday, felicitated with the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on his appointment as Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS).
President Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, named Shaibu as the new chief executive of NIS to succeed Professor Olawale Moronkola.
NMA Edo State Branch Chairman, Dr Eustace Oseghale, and Secretary, Dr Iloube Inegbenosun, in a statement in Benin, hailed the former Deputy Governor on the appointment.
The Edo NMA said Shaibu’s appointment is a well-deserved recognition and a testament to his tireless dedication to youth development and sports advancement.
“This well-deserved recognition is a testament to your tireless dedication to youth development, sports advancement, and national unity through sports,” they said.
“Your relentless pursuit of excellence and passion for the betterment of Nigeria have not gone unnoticed.
“Your contributions to sports development in Edo State have been unparalleled, and we are confident that the nation’s sports sector will witness significant growth under your leadership.”
