The caliber of interested candidates for the role of Governor is unparalleled, with individuals such as Dr. Ehizojie Ohiowele, Prof Osunbor, Asue Ighodalo, and Olumide standing out for their exceptional experience and educational qualifications.
Edo State holds a unique distinction with an unwritten consensus, particularly driven by the majority in Edo South, that it is the turn of Edo Central, encompassing Esanland. Notably, three frontrunners, Dr. Ehizojie Ohiowele (Labour Party), Prof Osunbor (APC), and Asue Ighodalo (PDP), representing the three major parties are come from that zone with the exception of the Olumide who is from Edo south.

Prof Osunbor, outside the youthful age bracket, faces this as a potential drawback in the eyes of Edo citizens.
